It can range from natural beauty to urban city.

Yosemite National Park - been once
Grand Canyon National Park - been several times - going back in 2 years.
Bryce-Zion - hope to go soon.
Rocky Mountain National Park - been several times

Bulgaria - Balkan mountains, Rhodopian Mountains, Black Sea (away from the ports) - part of my heart and soul lives in Bulgaria

South Island - NZ

Mt. Everst, the Himalays, Pamirs and Tien Shan.

French, Swiss and Italian Alps

Scotland/Wales - The west coast and the highlands.

Australia - Uluru, and the coastlines - South East, South West, Western.

Antarctica - in the summer time, and in the winter.

Alaska - Denali

One of those special in a lifetime events. I'll be half a century - and I plan a rim-to-rim round trip in less than one day. The question is how challenging - during a cool period in spring or fall, or doing it during summer - like July or August, when the temperatures are in excess of 105°F (41°C).

Either one makes it or one becomes vulture food.

Actually, I'll be training for the next two years, and I have a friend who gave me some information on a group that did the same thing - rim-to-rim roundtrip in less than one day, but during April when it is much cooler.

I was lucky enough to be able to spend 4 weeks in Namche Bazaar, during which time I went to Khumbu, and Khunde, where hundreds of prayer flags still fly against the backdrop of Everest, for Hillerys wife and daughter who died there. Its a sight that leaves you speechless, and in my top 10 list.

The high desert outside of Moab Utah, as close as you can get to walking on the moon while still on earth.

No, this area is in northern Pakistan, just north of Jammu and Kashmir (disputed area between Pakistan and India). K2, Broad Peak, and Muztagh, are right on the border of Pakistan and China (Xinjiang Weiwuer).

This is the western end of the Himalayas (Karakoram), where they meet the eastern end of the Hindu Kush (Pakistan/Afghanistan) and Kunlun (China) Ranges. It is about the coolest place on Earth if you like mountains. :!)

K2 is the second highest mountain in the world (28,250 ft / 8,611 m), behind Everest (29,028 ft / 8848 m).

I learned about Paiju Peak about 35 years ago. I had a cool poster of the southern face taken late afternoon. Lost it though. Paiju is short by comparison to others, but it has some of the steepest/shearest faces I've ever seen. Years ago, I tried to find info about it and then forgot. I searched google the other day, and found quite a lot of info.

What I haven't found so far, is any climbing log. I think most poeple pass Paiju up on there way to higher mountains.

I also have made plans for 50 years in the future, but that depends on a lot of other things happening or not happening until then.

Actually, activities like mountaineering or using large telescopes require one or more years in advance.

With regard to celestial events, one for which I have plans is the next eclipse of Epsilon Aurigae - which will occur in 2009-2011.

Also Epsilon Aurigae Star System . This site is more comprehensive.

This star system has fascinated me for 38 years, ever since I learned about it in grade 4.

Just about any mountain, but some of my favorites are listed above in Post #21.

I need to get over to the Scottish Highlands - hopefully the next year or two.

I've been through the alps several times, but never stopped long enough to do a peak.

Himalayas/Karakoram, Pamirs, Tien Shan are on my to do list, as are the Andes and Denali, and the Rocky Mountains around Banff/Jasper.

I guess I'll be busy for a while.

Acutally, I have a mountains/peaks folder on one of my PC's. I need to post some pics, but I'll run out of space if I post them on PF.

MY NUMBER ONE most Beautiful beach in the WORLD (I've been to a lot), is definitely the big beach on Anderson Air Force base, at the North of Guam. As I said before, I haven't gotten a good picture yet.

The Big Sur area of California is incredibly beautiful, idyllic even. I've attached a few pictures from a trip I took last summer.

I think Utah is also underrated in general in terms of natural beauty. Astronuc got it right, Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks are gorgeous. Yellowstone is also astounding in the depth and variety of its natural beauty.

As far as areas outside of the USA mainland go, I haven't been to many places, but Iceland has some really nice and impressive geography.
