Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around personality types, specifically those defined by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Participants share their own personality types, discuss the accuracy of the tests, and express opinions about the options available in a poll related to these types. The conversation includes personal anecdotes and reflections on how their types may change over time.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants express their personality types, such as ENFJ, ENTJ, INTJ, INTP, and others, often linking to descriptions or tests that support their claims.
  • There is a suggestion that the poll lacks options for less common personality types, leading to frustration among some participants.
  • Some participants note that their results can vary depending on their mood or the specific questions asked in the tests.
  • One participant mentions that they have consistently identified as INTP, while another reflects on having been INTJ in the past.
  • Discussions arise about the subjective nature of the questions in the personality tests, with some participants feeling that the binary yes/no format does not capture their complexity.
  • Several participants share links to external resources for further exploration of personality types, indicating a desire for deeper understanding.
  • There is humor and light-hearted banter regarding the editing of the poll and the nature of personality assessments.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally share their individual personality types and experiences, but there is no consensus on the accuracy of the tests or the completeness of the poll options. Multiple competing views on personality types and their interpretations remain present throughout the discussion.

Contextual Notes

Some participants express uncertainty about their personality type results, indicating that the tests may not fully capture their identities. There are also mentions of past results differing from current ones, suggesting variability in self-assessment over time.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in personality psychology, those exploring the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or anyone curious about the subjective nature of personality assessments may find this discussion relevant.

One second, I'll create the poll then add the link.

There weren't enough options to list them all so I took out the ones I thought would be least common. If a mod can expand it, please do so.

Here's one test here:

If you know any others, post away.

Oh come on, I'm ENTJ

I've been INTJ & ENTJ, I could answer some questions either way depending on my mood. I think I might have been a P instead of a J once, years ago. Can I select multiple choices?

your a mod, edit the poll yourself.

yomamma you're so judgemental.

INTJ...what does the N stand for?
Under INTJ, it says Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging.

you forgot x, which is equally i and e. I am an x, neither more introvert or extrovert.

I'm surprised that isn't an option on the original poll. It would make sense, being one of the rationals and all...

Wow...after reading the descriptions for INTJ, I got to say this test is pretty accurate.

INTP. Always was, it seems

Anyways, thanks for making a new poll
Let's hope this thread extends beyond mine! :shy:

You're a mod! Quit complaining and change one of the ones no one's voted for yet! Put tribdog's up there too.

 Tribdog's is the same one. Okay, I'll change it...if I can. Don't blame me if the whole thread explodes; I've never edited a poll before. :-p

Yep, that's what I usually get. I think INTP describes me best, and INTJ just wins out on the questions that could go either way (and INFP and INFJ can't manage to get a word in) ...not that I expect 72 Yes-or-No questions to tell me more about myself than I already know...

Duh. That'd be tribdog's fault.

Okay, I've edited in the options people have actually gotten in place of ones nobody has given (first-come-first-serve around here). I didn't realize how many things I could change in these polls before...nifty.

Feel free to change my polls any time moony

INTP. Just the other night I got INTJ on the same test, though the J was only 1 percent (this time, P was 22%). However, the description of INTP does seem to fit me a fair bit better.

I believe I've taken tests like this a number of times in the past. As a teenager (~14-16) I used to regularly score as INFP, if memory serves.

whoops, put the wrong entry into the poll. Can't seem to erase it.

I'm sure moonbear will figure it out. She loves messing with my poll.

As an appreciator of homophones and innuendo, I must say

No matter how I change my flip-flop responses it says I am an ENTJ- also known as the Field Marshall. Pretty accurate, except I really cannot ever see myself being in charge of important things- I just like to organize people into smooth flowing groups that get things done. Weird profile for someone getting his Ph.D. in theoretical physics...

I don't know what hypnagogue did to it, but I don't think there's anything I can do to fix it now. :-p

Funny that we can change the number of votes but not who voted for those options.
