Do you people here watch The MythBusters on Discovery Channel?
Do you people here watch The MythBusters on Discovery Channel? I think those people on the show are super weird but cool. Loss due to open channel to pipe flow transition
Hi! I have the following equation for the entrance loss from an open channel to a pipe, but I'm not sure how it was derived: hloss = K*(V2^2 - V1^2)/2g I have always seen entrance losses as: K*(V^2)/2g, but why is the channel flow velocity considered in the equation above. Thanks...- miriza

Setting Up the Physics Forums IRC Channel
It seems to me PF is well-attended enough to get its own IRC channel. Not that that is much work, of course, but still. Maybe this is a rather nice idea, since some threads start looking like a chat already.. Of course, I can't start an official PF Irc channel on my own, since I am rather...- nazgjunk

News Is Clear Channel Really Biased and Profit-Driven, or Are the Myths Overblown?
Clear Channel... I know that it isn't really current news but I have heard quite a bit of bad press in regards to Clear Channel. Alot of it seems to be embellished from what I have gathered. There seem to be two main complaints. One: Clear Channel is partisan and it's radio news, among...- TheStatutoryApe

What's wrong with The Discovery Channel?
Seriously, did anyone see their most recent program called Voyage to The Planets and Beyond? It's totally ridiculous! The program is about a manned voyage to 5 of the 9 planets and close pass by the sun, a voyage that alone takes over 1200 days. I'll list some of the outragous events that take...- Entropy

Unlock the Secrets Behind Cable Channel Encoding
Does anyone know why on some cable channels I didn't subscribe, I can still see something (with a lot of distortion and noise), while I can't see anything at all in some others? How are the signal modulated and encoded? Are they encrypted? How come some channels are encoded that I can still...- chingkui

not sure if this has aired before, but it mentioned Gumble/SC Fi's (in 2003,forget when) This was excellent--at least Cosmos 96 was debunked (James Oberg even reaches this 'conclusion',yet begins his own 'conspiricy theory' ---mindboggling; perhaps his 'balloon solutions' should be...- mouseonmoon

What is the current density in the ion channel?
Measurements with microelectrodes have shown that a 0.30-nm-diameter potassium ion (K+) channel carries a current of 1.8 pA. How many potassium ions pass through if the ion channel opens for 1.0 ms? What is the current density in the ion channel? I am completely lost for this one...- kyang002
