Choosing a minor in a physics bachelor's program can significantly impact future academic and career paths. The discussion centers on two options: a Mathematics minor, which includes courses like Complex Analysis and Differential Equations, and a Physics minor, featuring classes such as Quantum Mechanics and Astrophysics. Participants emphasize the importance of personal preferences in making this decision, as each minor offers distinct advantages. There is some confusion regarding the feasibility of minoring in Physics while majoring in it, prompting clarification on the academic structure. Ultimately, the choice should align with individual interests and career goals, whether leaning towards a deeper understanding of mathematical principles or further exploration of advanced physics topics.

In the second year of my bachelor in physics, we must choose a minor, but I'm indeciseve between choosing a minor in Mathematics that has courses like : Complex Analysis; Group Theory; Linear Analysis, Introduction to Topology, Differential Equations, etc.. and the minor in Physics that has courses like: Analytical Mechanics; Astrophyiscs; Computacional Physics; Quantum Mechanics 2; Physics of Condesed Matter, etc..
What should I choose?
Thank you all, for your opinions!

Nobody can make that decision for you. People have different preferences and without knowing yours it is impossible to give you any input. What do you think and why?

Not sure I understand. If you are majoring in Physics, how can you minor in Physics as well? If you choose to minor in Physics, what would you switch your major to?

Are you asking about the differences in advantages between Major in Physics with Minor in Mathematics; and Major in Mathematics with Minor in Physics?

Given the current funding situation, you should contact potential departments or research groups before you apply and pay any application fees. Many programs are not taking new graduate students at all this cycle because of funding uncertainty, unless a specific advisor can show they already have money to support you for five years. This is what I’ve heard directly from 20–30 programs. Do not waste money applying blindly.
Hi community My aim is to get into research about atoms, specifically, I want to do experimental research that explores questions like: 1. Why do Gallium/Mercury have low melting points 2. Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
