I love going to weddings they are so much fun. My neighbor just had a wedding. He said it cost almost 10 grand just for the open bar.
The forum discussion centers on the extravagant spending associated with weddings, particularly highlighting a case where a groom spent $180,000 on jewelry and additional costs for invitations and floral arrangements. Participants express disdain for such lavish expenditures, arguing that they reflect shallow values and may lead to future marital issues. Many contributors advocate for simpler, more meaningful ceremonies, emphasizing that the focus should be on the marriage rather than the wedding itself. The conversation also touches on alternative approaches to wedding gifts and registries, suggesting charitable donations instead of traditional gifts.

I provided the stereo and one of my brothers in law DJ'd all night. The "open bar" was a keg provided by a couple of other brothers in law. It was very simple, and great fun at minimal cost.
It was fun. We borrowed the town hall above the fire-house, so we had access to a kitchen, tables, folding chairs, etc. Everybody brought food, so the cost was spread around pretty good.ShawnD said:That sounds like a lot of fun. Sort of like a back yard bbq with a theme.
