SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on analyzing the forces acting on a bunk bed design supported by wall-mounted slide rail mechanisms and support legs. The total user weight and bunk combined is 102 kg, necessitating a thorough analysis of load distribution. The maximum load limits for the rail mechanisms are specified in the provided Misumi document. Participants emphasize the importance of starting with the equilibrium of forces, specifically ensuring that the sum of forces in the vertical direction equals zero.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of static equilibrium principles
  • Familiarity with 2D force analysis in beams and trusses
  • Knowledge of load distribution and support mechanisms
  • Access to technical specifications for rail mechanisms
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of static equilibrium in structural analysis
  • Study the mechanics of load distribution in furniture design
  • Examine the specifications and load limits of Misumi slide rail mechanisms
  • Learn about the design considerations for bunk bed safety and stability
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, furniture designers, and anyone involved in structural analysis or safety assessments of bed designs will benefit from this discussion.

Analyse forces of bed...

Hi,

As shown in my earlier post i need to analyse the forces of my bunk bed design

I know how to analyse forces in 2d beams and trusses etc but my problem involves a bed supported on a wall by 2 slide rail mechanisms and 2 support legs as shown in the link. The user weight and bunk combined = 102kg. Please show me how to at least start my analyses...

The max load limits of the rail I am using are shown in this link http://www.misumi-europe.com/eucatal..._0293-0294.pdf

Thanks.

Sum of the forces in the ?" "? direction equals zero.

That is how you start.
