Are there Standardized Computer Symbols for these Science Fields?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for standardized symbols and naming conventions in various scientific fields for computer modeling, specifically mentioning Astronomy, Astrophysics, Climatology, Geophysics, Meteorology, and Physical Oceanography. A reference to the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) document on standardized symbols is provided, alongside examples from aerospace, including standard names for speed parameters and fluid dynamics in jet engines. The conversation highlights the importance of using the correct terminology, suggesting that "Standard Naming" is more appropriate than "Standard Computer Symbols" for this context.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of scientific modeling concepts
  • Familiarity with standardized naming conventions in engineering
  • Knowledge of specific fields such as Meteorology and Astrophysics
  • Basic comprehension of fluid dynamics principles
NEXT STEPS
  • Research standardized naming conventions in Astronomy and Astrophysics
  • Explore ITTC recommendations for symbols in fluid dynamics
  • Investigate aerospace standards for speed parameters
  • Learn about the role of standardized symbols in computer modeling
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, scientists, and engineers in fields such as Meteorology, Astrophysics, and Aerospace engineering who are involved in computer modeling and require standardized terminology for effective communication and data representation.

Good Day Everyone

I found this http://ittc.sname.org/new%20recomendations/Symbols%20List/Structured%20List2008.pdf" which was created by the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC).

I was wondering if there are any similar documents for these Science Fields such as: Astronomy, Astrophysics, Climatology, Geophysics, Meteorology, Physical Oceanography, etc. for use in computer modeling?

Appreciate any help on this

Thanks

Thanks AlephZero

Maybe that is my problem I was searching for Standard "Computer Symbols" and should have been using Standard Naming
