SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for atmospheric transmittance data specific to Venus, particularly in the C-band. A user suggests comparing the absorption spectrum of Earth's atmosphere to that of Venus to derive the transmittance information. However, the original poster clarifies their interest in obtaining a transmittance plot, also referred to as an opacity plot, rather than reflected spectrum data. Links to relevant resources, including a Venus spectra image from ESA and an example of Earth's atmospheric transmittance, are provided for further reference.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of atmospheric transmittance concepts
  • Familiarity with absorption spectra analysis
  • Knowledge of C-band frequency range in atmospheric studies
  • Basic skills in interpreting scientific plots and graphs
NEXT STEPS
  • Research "Venus atmospheric transmittance data" for specific studies and findings
  • Explore "C-band atmospheric absorption characteristics" for detailed insights
  • Investigate "opacity plots in planetary atmospheres" for comparative analysis
  • Learn about "spectroscopy techniques for planetary atmospheres" to enhance understanding
USEFUL FOR

Astronomers, planetary scientists, and researchers interested in atmospheric studies of Venus and comparative planetary analysis.

Hi guys this is my first post! I've been trying to find a plot of the atmospheric transmittance of Venus but I've had no luck. I'm particularly interested in the C-band transmittance. Thanks for any information you have!

Sorry your first post took three days to get an answer! Can you not just look up the absorption spectrum for the Earth's atmosphere and compare that to Venus' spectrum? Subtract one from the other type of thing? Venus is just reflected sunlight with some absorption lines, etc...

Perhaps this might help: http://www.esa.int/spaceinimages/Images/2009/07/Venus_spectra_from_SCIAMACHY

Is that what you're looking for?
