SUMMARY

The forum discussion revolves around the hypothetical scenario of being invisible for 24 hours and the intriguing locations one could visit, such as the White House, Pentagon, CIA HQ, and NSA. Participants express interest in observing natural wildlife, such as bears and birds, and engaging in social activities like visiting a pub or a concert. The conversation also touches on the implications of invisibility, questioning whether it applies only to the optical range or includes other spectrums like infrared and X-ray. The consensus is that true invisibility would require being incorporeal, allowing one to evade detection entirely.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of the concept of invisibility and its implications
  • Familiarity with optical, infrared, and X-ray spectrums
  • Knowledge of popular culture references related to invisibility
  • Awareness of locations with high security, such as Fort Knox and the Playboy Mansion
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the scientific theories behind invisibility and cloaking technology
  • Explore the psychological effects of being unseen on human behavior
  • Investigate security measures at high-profile locations like Fort Knox
  • Watch Derren Brown's performance on invisibility for entertainment insights
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for creative thinkers, writers, and anyone interested in the philosophical and psychological aspects of invisibility, as well as fans of popular culture and security enthusiasts.

Where would you go and what would you do if you could be invisible for 24 houres in real world?

There are not too many places one can get to in the world in 24 hrs.

The White House, Pentagon, CIA HQ and NSA would be interesting places to visit if one was invisible.

Is one invisible in the just optical range, or infrared, UV and X-ray as well?

In any range! The way that nothing/nobody would be able to detect you.

Probably somewhere where there are girls to be honest. I'll also go to a swimming pool and go into water to see how the water get separated by my invisible body.
If I have the opportunity, in a wild forest and observe bears/birds very closely. Of course there are many other interesting places to go, but these are the firsts I have in mind.

So that would exclude having mass and matter, because one could be detected by methods using gravity or acoustics/ultrasonics. So basically one would have to be incorporeal. :bugeye:

Whenever I go somewhere, I like to have my body with me.

I would shrink myself to the size of an electron, have a good look around and see if I could make any sense of it all.No I wouldn't I'd go to the pub.

Playboy Mansion.

Surprised that nobody is not visible in Fort Knox

If you haven't seen Derren Brown make himself invisible, here is the youtube:

Trouble with this method is you'd show up on any surveillance tapes.

Only if I could also make the gold invisible as I carried it out. I think they'd get suspicious if they saw gold bricks just up and floating out on their own.

They can't do much if they confront floating knives/guns. Being invisible also means no one can catch you?

I'd do some in-depth people watching. I'd be really interested to know how people behave when they think they are alone.

That sounds like a really long episode of "Curb your Enthusiasm."
