Bohm Mechanics and Quantum Chaos

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers on the potential intersection of Bohm Mechanics and Quantum Chaos theories. Participants explore whether combining these two frameworks could yield fruitful research avenues, particularly in the context of a PhD project in the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about the usefulness of Bohm Mechanics and weak measurement in understanding Quantum Chaos, expressing a desire to explore this combination in their PhD research.
  • Another participant shares multiple links to academic papers and resources that may provide insights into the relationship between Bohm Mechanics and Quantum Chaos.
  • A subsequent reply notes that research in this area appears to be limited, with most relevant papers dating back to the late nineties.
  • A later comment suggests that the original poster could contribute to making this area of research more popular.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the viability or desirability of combining Bohm Mechanics with Quantum Chaos, and the discussion reflects uncertainty regarding the popularity and current state of research in this field.

Contextual Notes

The discussion highlights a potential gap in contemporary research on the intersection of Bohm Mechanics and Quantum Chaos, with references primarily to older literature.

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if Bohm Mechanics (and weak measurement) could be useful in understanding Quantum Chaos theories?
I'm currently in search of a PhD in Foundation of QM and I would like to know if doing a project that combine the trajectories coming from Bohm Mechanics with the current state of Quantum Chaos could be possible or desirable?
I have just graduated from a MSc in Theoretical Physics in London and I did my project on Bohm Mechanics and Weak Measurement but I don't know much about Quantum Chaos excepted that it uses semi-classical models in order to go away with trajectories in QM (as they don't exist according to Copenhagen Interpretation).

Do you know of any successful attempt to use theses two theories?

Thank you Demystifier. It looks like that this area of research is not very popular... Most of the papers are from the late nineties...
