SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on recommendations for books related to theoretical physics, specifically beyond quantum physics and super membranes. The user expresses frustration with the prevalence of string theory in recent literature and seeks alternatives. They enjoyed "A Brief History of Time" and "Parallel Worlds" by Michio Kaku, indicating a preference for accessible yet profound explorations of space, field, and time theories. The conversation highlights the need for more specific recommendations that avoid the complexities of string theory.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic theoretical physics concepts
  • Familiarity with quantum physics terminology
  • Knowledge of significant works by authors like Michio Kaku
  • Interest in advanced topics such as space-time theories
NEXT STEPS
  • Research books by Brian Greene, particularly "The Elegant Universe"
  • Explore "The Fabric of the Cosmos" by Brian Greene for insights on space and time
  • Investigate works by Roger Penrose, focusing on "The Road to Reality"
  • Look into popular science books that simplify complex theories without delving into string theory
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for physics enthusiasts, students of theoretical physics, and readers seeking to expand their knowledge beyond string theory while exploring concepts of space, time, and field theories.

i'm hungry for more reading material, concerning theory or not, based on what we know.

i get frustrated with quantum physics and anything that expounds on super membranes and such.

i highly enjoyed A Brief History of Time and Parallel Worlds (Michio Kaku) even though it got into the aforementioned, but everything recently written seems to be about the aforementioned mostly.

any ideas?

I think you have to be more specific. We know quite a lot!

hmmmmmmmmmmmm
"We know quite a lot" is rather relative. =)

i guess... I'm interested in space and field and time theories, up to the point where string theory gets involved...
