Can Fractals and 3D Game of Life Coexist?

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the potential intersection of fractals and the 3D Game of Life, exploring ideas for modeling and visualizing Platonic shapes through iterations. Participants also touch on the application of fractals in modeling the stock market.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks ideas for combining Platonic shapes with fractals and the 3D Game of Life, asking for references or papers on the topic.
  • Another participant expresses interest in modeling the stock market using fractals, indicating a desire for pointers or resources.
  • A participant mentions Wolfram's book 'A New Kind of Science' as a potential starting point for exploring these concepts.
  • There is a humorous remark about the use of fractals in popular culture, specifically referencing their appearance in Star Wars.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion does not reach a consensus, as participants express varying interests and ideas without resolving the potential connections between fractals and the 3D Game of Life.

Contextual Notes

Participants do not provide specific methodologies or definitions for the concepts discussed, leaving the exploration of fractals and the Game of Life open-ended.

HI all.
Just looking for some ideas or pointers. I wish to pass on an idea to a friend.
I want to look at Platonic shapes in 3D evolving through various iterations.

I've played with pretty fractals and I've played with the 2D and 3D Game of Life games.
both nice diversions :) on a rainy day.
Does anyone know of any papers or sites that have tried to combine the two?

Also. does anyone know how to save a creation in

and/or

Thanks all.

Ahhh I'm also looking for pointers. How can I model the stock market using Fractals? XD

Good luck with the stock market thing. :)
I try to stay away from stocks and bondage.

I'll look into Wolframs' book 'A new kind of Science'.
*shrug* - It's a place to start. I remember sampling it a few years ago when I was trying to learn matematica.

lol I was joking... I thought there's programs for 3D life fractals. They used fractals in star wars... lol
