Vitamin K supplements may influence dietary considerations for stabilizing INR levels in patients on warfarin, potentially requiring higher doses of the anticoagulant. While vitamin K is primarily known for its role in coagulation, it also has other important health functions. The impact of dietary sources of vitamin K on INR levels may be less significant with a daily supplementation of 100-200 mcg. However, any changes to medication or supplement dosages should only be made under the guidance of a healthcare provider to avoid complications, especially during medication introductions. Different forms of dietary vitamin K should also be considered, as they can affect INR stability. Warfarin is effective but carries serious long-term risks, emphasizing the need for careful management and professional oversight.

TL;DR
Can vitamin K supplements reduce dietary considerations in stabilizing INR on warfarin?
Can vitamin K supplements reduce dietary considerations in stabilizing INR on warfarin? I understand a higher dose of warfarin would be required. But isn't vitamin K useful besides as a coagulant, and wouldn't dietary sources of K impact INR less with a 100-200 mcg daily base of vitamin K supplemented?

Unless directed by a physician DO NOT alter dosages of medications or supplements. Altering supplements dosage or new use (which the health provider is aware of already hopefully)may be okay, otherwise it can cloud patient issues when taken during a meds introduction. Do not do it unless you are working with your provider. Period.

Also, consider that there are different forms of dietary Vitamin K that has to be factored in. And. Vitamin K has other very important functions.

Warfarin works well. But it has serious considerations and some potentially nasty long term effects.

Thread 'Magnetoreception in Animals'
For more than a hundred years people have been intrigued by how animals are able to do certain navigating tasks so well. Being able to sense magnetic fields has been one of several clues animals could use to figure out where they should go. Among possible magnetic sensory mechanisms have been: light sensitive proteins (cryptochromes) in the retina that can also react to magnetic fields. Microscopic magnetite crystals on found in various areas of the body (often the nose near nerves) A new...
