Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around a problem related to electrical circuits, specifically involving coils and generators. Participants are attempting to solve for current and reactance using provided formulas and equations.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking, Problem interpretation

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster attempts to calculate current and angles using given values but expresses uncertainty about finding reactance. Other participants question the necessity of certain variables and the relevance of equations to the problem at hand.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with participants exploring different expressions for reactance and questioning the need for additional variables. Some guidance has been offered regarding the usefulness of specific formulas, but no consensus has been reached on the approach to take.

Contextual Notes

Participants mention the absence of certain variables, such as resistance, which may be necessary for solving the problem. There is also a reference to attached problem statements and formula sheets that may contain relevant information.

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

1. I=v/z=110v/11Ω=10A

2. sinø=(Imax)(X)/v=(10A)(9Ω)/110V

ø=54.9°

3. I don't know what to do for this. I want to use Xc=1/ωC and solve for C but I need to first find Xc somehow

Among all the formulas there is an expression for Xc, but there also is a more useful one. Remove the others and you find it !

Yea I saw the expressions for Xc but I have a hard time solving for it since I don't have R and other variables that I need

You sure you need it ? And what other variables would you want to know ? For which of your relevant equations is that ?

What was it again you wanted to calculate ?
