Cosmology vs. Physical Cosmology

Click For Summary
Cosmology and physical cosmology are closely related but distinct fields. Cosmology broadly studies the universe's origin, evolution, and eventual fate, while physical cosmology specifically focuses on the universe's large-scale structure and dynamics. The term "physical" may seem redundant since cosmology is a branch of physics, yet it emphasizes the empirical and observable aspects of the universe. Both fields share overlapping content, as indicated by their separate Wikipedia pages. Understanding these distinctions is essential for grasping the nuances of the universe's study.

Is there a difference between cosmology and physical cosmology? The two have separate wikipedia pages which seem to say essentially the same thing. Also, cosmology is obviously a branch of physics, so is "physical" redundant?
