Could a Subsurface Launched Water Vehicle Create a Tidal Wave?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

A subsurface launched water vehicle, such as a submarine-launched rocket, does not generate significant tidal waves. Historical data shows that numerous sub-orbital rockets launched from submarines have resulted in minimal surface disturbance, indicating that the scale of human-made objects is negligible compared to the vastness of the ocean. Therefore, the consensus is that these vehicles cannot create tidal waves.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of oceanic physics
  • Knowledge of submarine operations
  • Familiarity with rocket launch dynamics
  • Basic principles of wave generation
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the physics of wave generation in large bodies of water
  • Study the mechanics of submarine-launched rockets
  • Explore historical examples of underwater explosions and their effects
  • Investigate the scale of human-made objects in relation to oceanic dimensions
USEFUL FOR

Marine scientists, aerospace engineers, and anyone interested in the impact of human activities on oceanic environments.

Would a big one of these cause a tidal wave?

No
We have launched quite a few sub-orbital rockets from submarines, it hardly create a ripple.

The ocean is very very big, man made stuff is very very small

Fantastic!
