do leaves burn? what kind of leaves burn? I tried burning a leaf but it won't burn.. but in forest fires.. is it the wood that burns or the leaves?
Leaves can burn effectively under certain conditions, primarily when they are dry. Green leaves contain high moisture levels, preventing them from igniting. In forest fires, both leaves and wood contribute to the combustion process; the intense heat drives out moisture, allowing dry leaves to catch fire quickly. Additionally, trees produce volatile compounds that enhance burning, particularly when they are green.
PREREQUISITESEnvironmental scientists, fire safety professionals, and anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of combustion in natural settings.
Depends on the temperature and how dry the leaves are. All leaves will burn in a hot enough fire.Blue Scallop said:do leaves burn? what kind of leaves burn? I tried burning a leaf but it won't burn.. but in forest fires.. is it the wood that burns or the leaves?
