Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around seeking assistance with geometry, particularly for individuals who have not taken formal geometry courses and are encountering difficulties in applying geometric concepts in their current studies, such as applied calculus.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related
  • Conceptual clarification
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant offers to help others with geometry questions.
  • Another participant expresses a lack of formal geometry education and seeks resources to learn basic theorems and formulas relevant to their applied calculus course.
  • A third participant provides a link to resources for learning geometry basics and suggests that a textbook could offer a more in-depth understanding.
  • A fourth participant mentions a separate thread containing five specific geometry questions for assistance.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for geometry help, but there are varying levels of experience and specific questions raised, indicating that the discussion remains open-ended without a consensus on the best approach to learning geometry.

Contextual Notes

Some participants express uncertainty about the adequacy of their previous math education, particularly regarding integrated math courses, which may have contributed to gaps in their understanding of geometry.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals seeking to improve their geometry skills, particularly those transitioning from algebra to calculus or those who have not taken formal geometry courses.

well i haven't a specific question. But i never took a formal gemometry course. i took algebra 1, then moved to a school with integrated math. Integrated math was terrible, and in its attempt to combine algebra and geometry, it left out a lot. I'm now taking an applied Calculus course, and apparently a lot of our problems would be easier if we knew certain theorems or formulas. So, do you know where, maybe online or something, i could sort of learn geometry?

Geometry Help

Here is a link that might help you learn some of the basics and a couple important theorems. If you want to learn the course at a more in depth level the best thing to do would be to pick up a book on the subject.
