Does anyone know a good reference for absorption lines in the Earth's atmosphere at visible and NIR wavelengths (if there are any)? For example, perhaps in the range of 3500 Å to 8000 Å? I find that the search terms are too broad to give me reasonable results on ADS. I found some atmospheric absorption spectra in Allen's Astrophysical Quantities that gave a reference to a paper that had the HITRAN database of molecular lines. However, in this paper, the lines are grouped by molelcular species rather than by wavelength, and there are a huge number of them to search through (all listed in terms of wavenumber, which makes it even more cumbersome). I am also not sure if the HITRAN stuff is relevant to me. It looks like the purpose of HITRAN is to compile a list of spectroscopic parameters for each molecular species that would then allow one to generate artificial atmospheric absorption spectra, spectral line by spectral line. Any help would be appreciated.
