AI Thread Summary
Irn Bru, a popular Scottish soft drink, is difficult to find in the U.S. due to FDA regulations on its orange coloring. A user expressed a strong desire to obtain the beverage after a long absence, having last enjoyed it in 2000. They discovered a website, irn-bru-usa.com, which offers the drink for over $2 per 16 oz bottle, noted as the most affordable option available. Additionally, the site offers a promotional free t-shirt. Another link was shared, but it remains unclear if it leads to the same product. Overall, the discussion highlights the challenges of sourcing Irn Bru in the U.S. and the excitement surrounding its availability online.

I was pining for some Irn Bru (which is not easily available here due to the fact that the orange coloring is not approved by the FDA, what's their problem). I googled around trying to find out how to get some because the last bottle I had was over a year ago, and the one prior to that was Summer 2000 ad I really really need some soon.

Anyhow, I came across this

and I now feel better than I have in a long time.

Thankyou. I already found that site last night. Seems as though it's the least expensive way to go. Still, it comes to over $2 for a single 16 oz bottle.

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
