Finding out about string theory

Hello, I am interested in finding out about string theory. I have done reasearch on the internet but that is the basics. I am hoping that I can find someone who works in the field or has a good grasp of M-theory to explain it to me.

You should begin by researching the 10-D string theories first. There are several good book/references out there in case you are interested.

After that, you should study
B. Zwiebach, A First Course in String Theory
When you finish these, then you are ready for the serious stuff.

Also, as pre-requisites you should have a good understanding of quantum field theory and general relativity.
