SUMMARY

ETS tests calculate raw scores using the formula C - I/4, where C represents the number of correct answers and I denotes the number of incorrect answers. There is speculation that ETS may round down scores, potentially using a method like C - ceiling(I/4). However, the consensus is that the impact of rounding on the final score is negligible, as a single point is unlikely to significantly affect overall results.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of ETS scoring methodologies
  • Familiarity with basic arithmetic operations
  • Knowledge of raw score calculations
  • Awareness of test scoring implications
NEXT STEPS
  • Research ETS scoring policies and practices
  • Explore the impact of raw score calculations on test outcomes
  • Investigate other standardized test scoring systems
  • Learn about statistical rounding methods in test scoring
USEFUL FOR

Students preparing for ETS tests, educators involved in test preparation, and anyone interested in understanding standardized test scoring systems.

Do they round down? They say your raw score is C - I/4 where C is number of correct answers and I is number of incorrect answers.

Somebody told me that on other tests, ETS tends to round down. I.e., they might use something like:

C - ceiling(I/4)

Does anybody know?

Probably rounds down, but ultimately it really doesn't matter...

One point will not make or break your score. Don't worry about it.
