This fella circled the Niagara area at least ten times while I watched. It had the distinct configuration of a C-5 in the wings tail and 4 engines, which was my first thought but it didn't look much larger than a commercial jet.

I was about to post for suggestions about what it was but, checking online, it's pretty clear it's a C-5.

I guess it was just flying higher than I thought.

They just wanted a better view of the falls.

Here are some pictures I took of one at an air show a few years ago to give you perspective of how big it really is: (Dave's pictures don't do it justice).

So where are the hens ?

About 15 years ago, we were on a camping trip to eastern Washington state, in the area where the Columbia river used to run about 10,000-15,000 years ago. The area looks like this:

The campground was in a deep, narrow canyon. We were setting up the tent when suddenly a *huge* plane came screaming down the canyon...I thought it was going to crash on us!

I have no idea how to judge how low it was...but I clearly saw rivets .

I figure it was circling Niagara Int'l Airport, waiting to land.
