How did you find PF?
By being confused about gamma emission (and google searching "physics forums")
I am currently a junior (soon to be senior) undergraduate physics major and decided to join the physics forums because I have already gotten a good amount of help and understanding just by perusing past conversations without an account, and because I know that physics is not a subject easily understood by just one person sitting alone in a room thinking really hard about things; I know now that physical understanding takes the a lot of reading and conversation with individuals with differing perspectives and experiences in the field, alongside the work one does alone. I also know that there's nothing more physicists love doing more than correcting false assumptions, so hopefully my joining of the forums means that I get my false assumptions about physics corrected with each post, one can only hope!

Welcome to PF.

Hello there, and nice to meet all of you! My name is Olga, I am from Russia. I have a PhD in laser physics, and I work at the local university. I study chalcogenide lasers. I am a pure experimentalist, and I love working with my hands, et cetera, and I do math only when I have to. Sometimes I work with biologists. I do nothing exciting in research, and after my defence, I hardly can call myself a scientist because we have a lack of financial support, and most of my time I spend on teaching...
