How do conveyor rails work for moving a chair up an incline?

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone had any links or information to how conveyor rails work?
Basically, I'm designing a product that would require a chair to move up and down an incline. I'd like to place it on a powered conveyor rail, but need more information on the mechanics and can't find any.
