How Do You Convert Transmittance to Absorbance?

AI Thread Summary
To convert transmittance to absorbance, use the formula A = -log(T), where A is absorbance and T is transmittance expressed as a decimal. For a transmittance of 58.8%, first convert it to decimal form (0.588). Applying the formula, absorbance is calculated as A = -log(0.588), which equals approximately 0.232. It's important to report the absorbance value with three significant figures, resulting in 0.232. Understanding the definitions and the calculation process is crucial for accurate conversions.

Not sure how to do this?? Do I subtract 100 percent from 58.8 I have no clue what to do lol..
