SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on writing word equations for various chemical reactions, specifically involving Hydrochloric Acid, Mossy Zinc, Manganese Dioxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, and Silver Nitrate. The correct equations include: 1) Hydrochloric Acid + Zinc → Zinc Chloride, 2) Manganese Dioxide + Hydrogen Peroxide → Manganese Oxide + Water, and 5) Silver Nitrate + Sodium Chloride → Silver Chloride + Sodium Nitrate. The discussion also addresses the electrolysis of Copper (II) Chloride, emphasizing that it is a straightforward process once understood.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of chemical reactions and word equations
  • Familiarity with common chemical compounds such as Hydrochloric Acid and Silver Nitrate
  • Knowledge of electrolysis principles
  • Ability to identify reactants and products in chemical equations
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the electrolysis process of Copper (II) Chloride
  • Study the solubility rules for common ionic compounds
  • Learn about oxidation-reduction reactions involving Manganese Dioxide
  • Explore the concept of balancing chemical equations
USEFUL FOR

Chemistry students, educators, and anyone involved in writing or understanding chemical equations and reactions.

Homework Statement

Write word equations to show the changes in:

1)Hydrochloric Acid and Mossy Zinc
2)Manganese Dioxide and Hydrogen Peroxide
3)Hydrochloric Acid and Rolaids
4)Passing electricity through copper (II) chloride (electrolysis)
5)Silver nitrate and sodium chloride

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

5) Silver Nitrate(liquid) + Sodium Chloride(liquid) -> Silver Chloride (liquid)
1) Hydrochloric Acid + Zinc -> Zinc Chloride?
2) Manganese Dioxide + Hydrogen Peroxide -> Hydrogen Dioxide ??

I have no idea how to do it, especially for #4.

Is silver chloride soluble?

No such thing as hydrogen dioxide. However, mangan can be oxidized.

1 is OK.

Google electrolysis, #4 is easier than you think.
