I'm trying to figure out the intensity of light in different sections of a 2d airy disk from a point source, but I'm not sure how to calculate it. Does anyone have any good sources?
The discussion focuses on calculating the intensity of light in different sections of a 2D Airy disk originating from a point source. Participants emphasize the necessity of utilizing Bessel functions for accurate calculations. Resources such as online Bessel function calculators are recommended for assistance. The Wikipedia page on Airy disks is also cited as a valuable reference for mathematical details.
PREREQUISITESOptics enthusiasts, physicists, and engineers involved in light intensity calculations and diffraction analysis will benefit from this discussion.

You need to be able to calculate values of Bessel functions. I've seen online Bessel function calculators... try a Google search for them.
