The discussion centers around the implications of the "Spots Rampage" event, which highlights the transition of advanced technology from military applications to civilian use, particularly in entertainment and sports. The event raises concerns about the militarization of robotics, as exemplified by Boston Dynamics' Spot robots being utilized by law enforcement, such as the NYPD. The conversation emphasizes the unsettling reality that new technologies often evolve from military origins to mainstream consumer products. Participants are encouraged to explore related articles that discuss the societal impact of such technologies and the ethical considerations surrounding their use. The FAQ section on the Spots Rampage website is recommended for further context on the event and its implications.

I highly recommend going to the site and reviewing the FAQ's @ https://spotsrampage.com/ it gives context that's relevant for discussion. (I do hope the implications are worthy of discussion).

So true, it's interesting that MSCHF thought of this presentation in such an "in your face" manner. I see NYPD is using spot in trials, can you picture a swarm of these in an attack.

To some degree, this thread is inspired by PF user erobz's thread "Why do we spend so much time learning grammar in the public school system?" That's why I made a title to this thread that paralleled the title of erobz's thread. I totally disagree with erobz. I created this thread because the curriculum of grammar at Universities is a totally distinct topic from the topic of the curriculum of grammar in public schools. I have noticed that the English grammar of many ( perhaps most)...
