SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the feasibility of achieving 6000 Newton metres of torque using two in-line hydraulic motors operating at speeds of 1800 or 1500 RPM. Participants emphasize the importance of ensuring that the shaft can handle the required torque. The Baldor HPM3710T hydraulic motor is mentioned as a potential option, though it is noted that it appears to be a smaller electric motor. Key considerations include the hydraulic fluid pressure and the power supply capacity of 1.2 MW.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of hydraulic motor specifications and performance metrics
  • Knowledge of torque calculations and units (Newton metres)
  • Familiarity with hydraulic fluid types and their properties
  • Basic principles of mechanical engineering related to motor alignment and torque transmission
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specifications and performance of the Baldor HPM3710T hydraulic motor
  • Investigate hydraulic fluid pressure requirements for high-torque applications
  • Explore mechanical design principles for shafts handling high torque
  • Learn about power supply requirements for hydraulic systems, particularly 1.2 MW setups
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, mechanical designers, and technicians involved in hydraulic system design and implementation, particularly those focused on high-torque applications.

Hi
Would someone please be able to help?
I am based in the UK
We need a large hydraulic motor... 6000 metres of torque with a speed of 1800 or 1500 RPM
If two motors were in-line would this achieve our goal?
Many thanks for your interest.

Is that 6000 Newton metres = 6k N⋅m
Why do you need it, what will it drive? Are you replacing a big electric motor?
What pressure is the hydraulic fluid. What type of fluid will you use?
Do you have a 1.2 MW power supply?

Check this motor Baldor HPM3710T.
Its hydraulic motor.

Provided the shaft can handle the torque.
