SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on using LaTeX for typesetting mathematical equations on Physics Forums. Users must utilize the itex tag for inline equations and the tex tag for display mode equations. The double # tag can also be employed for inline equations, although it may result in slower loading times on mobile devices. Proper installation of a TeX program is not necessary to type LaTeX in the forum.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of LaTeX syntax
  • Familiarity with Physics Forums' formatting tags
  • Knowledge of inline versus display math modes
  • Experience with mobile browsing and performance considerations
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore LaTeX documentation for advanced formatting techniques
  • Learn about the differences between itex and tex tags in detail
  • Investigate performance optimization for LaTeX rendering on mobile devices
  • Practice writing complex equations using LaTeX syntax
USEFUL FOR

Students, educators, and researchers who need to typeset mathematical equations in online forums, particularly those using Physics Forums.

I want to write LaTeX. So I write e.g) '\left( \frac a b \right)' . But it looks just back space bar not mathematical equation. Does there need to install TeX program if I want to type LaTeX in Physics Forums?

Could you kindly give me specific detail?? I can't find proper information about LaTeX in the link you said.

## \left( \frac a b \right) ##
Thank you. I got it!

Use itex tag for normal mode and tex tag for display mode.
Write some gibberish in a sentence E = mc^2 and then something in display mode
<br /> \left ( \frac{m}{p} \right ) \in \{-1,0,1\}<br />

You could also use double # tag for normal mode like this ##a^2 + b^2 = c^2 ##, but I've been avoiding that since for some reason, it loads longer when I'm reading topics on phone.
