I am looking downstairs at my neighbor's patio. She has two 20+ lb. Russian Blue cats, and they are sitting there in matching red t-shirts. I don't know why I find this so amusing. Maybe it's because the cats are stuffed into too-small t-shirts like sausages. Both have huge pot-bellies that are straining the fabric. They seem slightly embarrassed.

I'm convinced that dressing up your pets is one of the warning signs of encroaching spinsterhood.

Not to far from where I live there is a shop dedicated entirely to selling pet clothing, gourmet pet food and treats...and I'm pretty sure it was advertising for pet massage to. I can't believe some people will actually waste their money on crap like that.

I like Disney, but even I won't subject a pet to that extent... but then again, I don't have a dog, and there are no pet costumes for saltwater tropical fish. :)

Moonie, you need a fisher living in your neighborhood. Their primary prey is porcupines, but they also snack on cats. My wife and I lived in an old rented farmhouse about 25 years ago, there was a large stand of mature hemlock on the lower 150 acres. Lots of porcupines meant a stable population of fishers and not much of a cat problem. Thanks to the fishers, entire populations of rabbits, chipmunks, and ground-nesting birds got at least a bit of a break. That road is lined with big new houses now and much of the natural habitat is gone. I haven't spent any time back there, but I would venture that there are probably not many partridge, rabbits, wrens, etc anymore. Domestic cats do not belong in the wild and inflict terrible damage on wildlife diversity.

To lighten things up, here is last year's Xmas card from my cousin and his wife. Their terrier is a very smart little fellow. When they got him a Shreck "Donkey", he showed very little interest in it, so Jeff made it look like Donkey was going after Sparky's favorite rubber bone, and Sparky immediately grabbed Donkey by the crotch and started flailing him around violently. After that, Sparky would try to inflict that same type of damage on Donkey every time he was within his reach. Sparky is quite obedient and posed grudgingly for the picture, but it's easy to tell he wasn't real happy about it.
