The discussion revolves around Google's Pac-Man 30th birthday celebration on its homepage, featuring a playable game and accompanying music. While some users appreciate the nostalgic element and the fun of playing Pac-Man, others find the persistent music annoying, especially if left on for extended periods. There are mixed experiences regarding the visibility of the graphic, with some users in the UK reporting a plain Google page instead. The gameplay is noted to become challenging as the levels progress, with ghosts moving faster than Pac-Man. Users share their browsing habits, with some admitting to leaving the homepage open for long durations, which contributes to the annoyance of the music. Overall, the conversation highlights both enjoyment and frustration with Google's interactive doodles.

Without this thread, I'd have never known. I have the little Google search bar installed in my browser, so never actually visit the site to start a search. I haven't noticed anything while doing searches today, but usually you need to go to their home search page to see their silliness. Now I need to go look.

Edit: Ha ha ha ha! That was fun! I love those silly old games.

Silly?! You find the pill addiction of an yellow circle FUN?! Hell, pacman is so into the junk that he thinks he's being chased by ghosts, and his munchies are so bad he'll eat a KEY.

:)

Wow, that's really annoying!

I like Windows 7. Turning on or off the computer doesn't sound like the King just entered the room, anymore.

The last time I listened to this was in my friend's car while he was flying at about 100mph down the freeway swerving between cars. I don't get in cars with crazy koreans anymore.

It's kind of neat getting all those tunes playing together. Makes me nostalgic for arcades.

I don't ever go to the Google main page either because I use Chrome the address bar doubles as the Google search input space. But the Pacman game/logo on the Google page is way super cool! The "insert coin" button is hilarious!

The Google people are clever folks. I've always liked their themed celebratory logos.

Just in case anybody wanted to know, the ghosts never seem to enter the spot that pacman starts. Even if you begin to play and return to this spot the ghosts do not come. This should make it much easier to advance.

That's certainly not the case in the first life, as I can just have Google open and I'll lose a life within 30 seconds without moving or anything. It seems like that's the case after the first life, however, because the ghosts have just been circling around me for ten minutes now. But your results may vary.
