Is molten iron a good conductor of electricity?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

Molten iron is indeed a good conductor of electricity. The discussion confirms that, similar to mercury, which is a liquid at room temperature and an excellent conductor, molten iron maintains conductive properties. However, there is a notable change in resistivity during the phase transition from solid to liquid, indicating a non-linear relationship in conductivity as the state changes.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electrical conductivity principles
  • Knowledge of phase transitions in materials
  • Familiarity with resistivity and its measurement
  • Basic concepts of metallurgy and material science
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the electrical conductivity of molten metals
  • Explore the phase transition effects on resistivity
  • Study the properties of mercury as a conductor
  • Investigate the applications of molten iron in electrical engineering
USEFUL FOR

Material scientists, electrical engineers, and anyone interested in the properties of conductive materials, particularly in high-temperature applications.

I think so but I suspect(more of a guess) that there is a non smooth change of resistivity when there is a change of state.Mercury is a liquid at room temperature and is a good conductor.
