Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the possibility of telepathy, particularly in the context of whether it can occur under conditions of absolute concentration. Participants explore various viewpoints regarding the biological mechanisms, reliability of sources, and experimental conditions related to telepathy.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant questions the possibility of telepathy, asserting there is no biological mechanism to support it.
  • Another participant references an article suggesting that telepathy could occur if both individuals are in absolute concentration.
  • A different participant emphasizes the importance of judging the reliability of sources and considering experimental conditions, mentioning the potential for subconscious programming under certain circumstances.
  • One comment humorously dismisses the idea of telepathy as something only seen in Hollywood movies.
  • There is a repeated call for citation of sources when making claims about telepathy, highlighting the importance of scientific rigor.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the possibility of telepathy, with some outright rejecting it and others suggesting it might be feasible under specific conditions. The discussion remains unresolved with multiple competing perspectives.

Contextual Notes

Participants reference the need for reliable sources and the conditions of experiments, indicating that assumptions about telepathy may vary significantly based on context and interpretation.

Is telepathy possible?

Biology news on Phys.org

Hi JOL. No, there is absolutely no biological mechanism by which that would be possible.

But I read an article saying that if the two persons of communication are in absolute concentration it can be done.

Where did you read that article, you should always judge the reliability of a source. You should also take into account the conditions under which the experiment was conducted. Under certain conditions you can program someone subconsciously to get a certain answer.
