SUMMARY

The X-Ray mass of the Coma Cluster is cited as 3e13 based on Gursky's 1971 report, but recent reliable references are lacking. Participants in the discussion express frustration over the fixation on the Bullet Cluster in cosmological debates, suggesting a need for critical thinking rather than adherence to established models like LCDM. The conversation highlights the importance of sourcing updated and credible data in astrophysical research.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of X-Ray astronomy
  • Familiarity with cosmological models, particularly LCDM
  • Knowledge of critical thinking methodologies in scientific discourse
  • Awareness of historical astrophysical studies and their impact on current research
NEXT STEPS
  • Research recent studies on the X-Ray mass of the Coma Cluster
  • Explore alternative cosmological models to LCDM
  • Investigate critical thinking frameworks applicable to scientific debates
  • Review historical astrophysical reports and their relevance to modern findings
USEFUL FOR

Astronomers, astrophysicists, and students of cosmology seeking to understand the complexities of measuring cosmic structures and the implications of historical data on current theories.

Does anyone have a reliable reference for the X-Ray mass of the Coma Cluster? I've got a value of 3e13 from Gursky's 1971 report, but I got to believe there's something more recent. Googling hasn't turned up anything more reliable than some notes on lecture slides.

You seem fixated on the bullet cluster as if it is some kind of demon haunting your version of cosmology. Are you advocating an alternative to LCDM?

No. I'm advocating critical thinking skills.
