Nitpicking alert!
While undeniably ridiculous, the guy is a bureaucrat, not politician.

Well, he's an anti-corruption campaigner, so he's sort of a politician-which makes me wonder if perhaps someone is paying him off to make the movement look stupid!

Sadly, Ted Stevens is far from alone in the category of technical stupidity. Most politicians are complete idiots when it comes to science, technology, engineering, and math. Majoring in political science means (1) lots of time to party and chase the opposite sex, and (2) never having to take another science or math course again.

There was a US congressman who asked whether the island of Guam was in danger of flipping over if too many people were to go there.

Top that!

I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

O'Donnell's only told half the story. She only mentioned the mice with fully functioning human brains.

What she didn't mention was the humans with fully functioning mice brains!

there are too many to choose from, but i'll go with todd akin's comment that women have a function in their body that let them willfully prevent a pregnancy when raped.

Todd Akin joined by his brother Richard Mourdock

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen," he said.
