LibreCad : Optimizing print scale and offset

SUMMARY

LibreCAD's print preview mode allows users to set a print scale ratio and adjust the page offset for precise printing. However, changing the print scale resets the viewport zoom and offset to default settings, complicating the alignment process. Users must manually readjust the page outline after each scale change, leading to inefficiencies. To optimize print settings in LibreCAD, users should explore the plotting settings and consider external resources for guidance.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with LibreCAD interface and functionalities
  • Understanding of print scaling concepts
  • Knowledge of viewport management in CAD software
  • Basic skills in adjusting plot settings
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to configure print settings in LibreCAD
  • Learn about viewport scaling techniques in CAD applications
  • Explore external resources on plotting settings, such as Autodesk's guidelines
  • Investigate user forums for tips on managing print offsets in LibreCAD

LibreCad has this print preview mode where there is a text box that accepts a print scale ratio. Also, the screen shows a representation of the page that you can drag aroud to set the offset, and thus select which part of the drawing will be on the page, and where on the page it will be.

The problem I have is that changing the print scale causes the view zoom and viewport offset to jump to some default setting. Also the page outline is no longer where I had dragged it. I then have to zoom way out, search out where the page outline has jumped to, and drag it back again so it aligns with the drawing contents once more.

In short, I don't know how I can alternately set the print scale and offset in a convenient way until I am happy with both.

What is the right way to do this?
