Reading preprints at arXiv I see many astronomy/astrophysics collaborations publish papers from time to time (e.g. IceCube, HESS, DESI, GAIA, ACT, GRAND).
Could someone point me to a good, more or less comprehensive, list somewhere (like a Wikipedia page that I don't know the name of, an arXiv reference page, or a directory from a university astronomy department for job hunting new graduates), that includes acronyms, spelled out names, and a sentence or two description of what each one does (e.g. "IceCube is a collaboration centered around an Antarctica based neutrino observatory.")?
My own quick searches haven't turned up this kind of list, but I could easily be trying to use the wrong kind of search terms.
Alternatively, if there aren't too many of them, and someone finds it easy enough to do, could someone make a list in a post or two on this thread?
I could probably skim preprints for dozens of hours and make a list like that myself, but there is no point in reinventing the wheel if something like that already exists and is done by someone who is more of an expert in the field than I am. In addition to the time involved, I'm more likely to miss an important collaboration that, for whatever reason, hasn't published many papers all that recently.
My intuitive sense is that there are a lot more astronomy/astrophysics collaborations out there than there are high energy physics collaborations.
