Chemistry Looking for Good Books on Photosynthesis

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding suitable books for understanding photosynthesis from a physics perspective. Participants recommend starting with a plant physiology or molecular biology textbook to establish foundational knowledge. Key resources include the National Center for Biotechnology Information's book on photosynthesis and articles discussing the quantum mechanics of photosynthesis efficiency. These resources bridge the gap between physics and biological processes.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of plant physiology
  • Familiarity with molecular biology concepts
  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics principles
  • Interest in the intersection of physics and biology
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore "Plant Physiology" textbooks for foundational knowledge
  • Research "Molecular Biology of the Cell" for cellular processes related to photosynthesis
  • Investigate the article on quantum mechanics and photosynthesis efficiency for advanced insights
  • Review additional resources on the NCBI website for comprehensive studies on photosynthesis
USEFUL FOR

Students and researchers in physics and biology, educators seeking interdisciplinary resources, and anyone interested in the scientific principles underlying photosynthesis.

Hello,
I am interested in learning more about photosynthesis. My background is in physics, mostly condensed matter and atomic physics (graduate level). I have not taken a chemistry course since high school but I am looking for a book that starts from a physics point of view anyway. What are some good books on this topic?

Thank you.

i am self learning physics. have you ever worked your way backwards again after finishing most undergrad courses? i have textbooks for junior/senior physics courses in classical mechanics, electrodynamics, thermal physics, quantum mechanics, and mathematical methods for self learning. i have the Halliday Resnick sophomore book. working backwards, i checked out Conceptual Physics 11th edition by Hewitt and found this book very helpful. What i liked most was how stimulating the pictures...
