Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around seeking recommendations for sources of information on black holes, specifically aimed at a master's degree student in physics. The scope includes textbooks and educational materials related to general relativity and black hole physics.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests recommendations for sources to understand black holes at a master's level.
  • Another participant suggests "Gravitation" as a well-known textbook for general relativity.
  • A different participant recommends "Wald's General Relativity" for its treatment of black holes.
  • One participant provides a link to a free download of "Exploring Black Holes: Introduction to General Relativity."
  • Several participants express gratitude for the recommendations provided.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the value of textbooks for understanding black holes, but there are multiple recommendations without a consensus on a single best source.

Contextual Notes

Some recommendations depend on the specific focus within the topic of black holes and general relativity, and participants may have varying levels of familiarity with the suggested texts.

Who May Find This Useful

Your subject line is "inflation" but your post has nothing to do with inflation. Are you sure you are using the terms you want?

I fixed it.
thanks

For a master's student in physics, I'd recommend a good GR textbook. Gravitation is pretty famous for being a great one:

Wald's General Relativity is a good GR textbook and has a good treatment of black holes.

Thank you all, I saved all of them :)
