SUMMARY

The current mathematical formulation of M Theory exists primarily as a low-energy supergravity theory, which is extended into higher energy regimes to support renormalizability. Compactification techniques, such as those on a line or circle, are employed to derive various string theories, with dualities facilitating relationships between them, notably between Type IIA and Type IIB string theories. This discussion highlights the foundational aspects of M Theory and its competitive frameworks in theoretical physics.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of low-energy supergravity theories
  • Familiarity with string theory concepts
  • Knowledge of compactification techniques
  • Grasp of duality relations in theoretical physics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the latest developments in M Theory formulations
  • Explore the implications of compactification in string theory
  • Study the duality between Type IIA and Type IIB string theories
  • Investigate competing theories to M Theory in modern physics

Which is the current mathematical formulation of M theory, and what are its competitors?

Is there anyone intersted in M theory?

There is no basic notion of M-theory ,it only exist as a low energy supergravity.Just to support the renormalizability,we extend it in higher energy regime calling M theory. And doing some compactification on a line or circle to give rise to different string theory and then using duality to relate one with another like IIA to IIB.
