Mathematical Simulation of Patent. Very General

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on the use of mathematical simulations for testing a newly patented product, emphasizing their utility in the early stages of product design. Participants highlight that while simulations are beneficial, they do not replace the necessity for physical testing. The conversation also touches on the implications of patent privacy, clarifying that once a patent application is filed, privacy is less critical under the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty).

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mathematical modeling techniques
  • Familiarity with simulation software tools
  • Basic knowledge of patent law and the PCT
  • Experience in product design and development processes
NEXT STEPS
  • Research mathematical simulation software such as MATLAB or Simulink
  • Explore best practices for conducting simulations in product design
  • Learn about the patent application process and implications of the PCT
  • Investigate methods for validating simulation results through physical testing
USEFUL FOR

Inventors, product designers, patent holders, and researchers interested in leveraging mathematical simulations for product testing and development.

Hi All,
Sorry for the vagueness of the post; I promised privacy to a friend who just obtained a patent. She asked me to find a way of testing the product. Since I have no access of any sort to a lab, I am considering doing Mathematical simulations. I wonder if anyone knows about this and/or has real-life experience with designing simulations.
Thanks.

Why the request for privacy? The patent system is based on "first to file", so there is no need for privacy after the patent application is filed. This is true for all countries that have signed the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty).

I have done many simulations. They are extremely useful in the early stages of product design, but do not eliminate the need for testing.

Good point, I had not thought of this. Will try to convey to the holder.
