SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on resolving fatal errors in an MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport Code) data card. The first error indicates a mix of atom and weight fractions within a material card, which the user asserts is not the case. The second error points to an odd number of entries, suggesting a mismatch between source energy distribution and source probabilities. The user emphasizes the importance of checking for unrecognized characters, such as tabs, that may cause these issues.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with MCNP data card structure and syntax
  • Understanding of material definitions in MCNP
  • Knowledge of source energy distribution and probabilities in MCNP
  • Experience in troubleshooting common MCNP errors
NEXT STEPS
  • Investigate MCNP material card formatting and common pitfalls
  • Learn how to validate source energy distributions in MCNP
  • Explore techniques for debugging MCNP data cards
  • Review best practices for avoiding unrecognized characters in MCNP inputs
USEFUL FOR

MCNP users, nuclear engineers, and researchers working with Monte Carlo simulations who need to troubleshoot data card errors effectively.

TL;DR
I'm looking for some help resolving two data card fatal errors in MCNP
I'm trying to resolve two separate fatal errors in my MCNP deck. One is claiming that I'm mixing atom and weight fractions within a single material card, which I'm clearly not if you take a peek at the material definitions. The other is saying that I have an odd number of entries, indicating there is a discrepancy between the source energy distribution and source probabilities. I triple counted and this is also not the case. Any help would be appreciated. I have attached a screenshot of the errors.
