MCNPX memory error: "bad trouble in imcn in routine dynamic allocation"

AI Thread Summary
The error "bad trouble in imcn in routine dynamic allocation" occurs when describing a hexagonal fuel assembly in MCNPX. Users are encouraged to provide more context by sharing the full input file or a simplified version that still triggers the error. This additional information can help diagnose the issue more effectively. There may be a maximum limit related to the parameters used in the assembly description. Clarifying these details is essential for troubleshooting the memory error.

I would like to ask about this error " bad trouble in imcn in routine dynamic allocate"
this came up when I described a hexagonal fuel assembly with lat=2 fill=-17:17 -17:17 0:0 but it gave the error above. is there a maximum for this?

Welcome to PhysicsForums @Nagib Benamer,

That looks fine. It would probably help to show us more of the problem, ideally a full input file if you are able. If you are not able to share the full input file, then if you can cut the problem down to make a smaller problem that still produces the same error, that would also be helpful. If you wish to attach an input file you will need to change the file name to add .txt

Hello everyone, I am currently working on a burnup calculation for a fuel assembly with repeated geometric structures using MCNP6. I have defined two materials (Material 1 and Material 2) which are actually the same material but located in different positions. However, after running the calculation with the BURN card, I am encountering an issue where all burnup information(power fraction(Initial input is 1,but output file is 0), burnup, mass, etc.) for Material 2 is zero, while Material 1...
Hi everyone, I'm a complete beginner with MCNP and trying to learn how to perform burnup calculations. Right now, I'm feeling a bit lost and not sure where to start. I found the OECD-NEA Burnup Credit Calculational Criticality Benchmark (Phase I-B) and was wondering if anyone has worked through this specific benchmark using MCNP6? If so, would you be willing to share your MCNP input file for it? Seeing an actual working example would be incredibly helpful for my learning. I'd be really...
