Hello! Thanks for being a welcoming community and an informative resource. I'm an engineering consultant in Kentucky, specializing in mechanical design and space tech. I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2022, though I wasn't a huge fan of their program. I'm glad to be out :) I still have a lot of holes in my desired areas of knowledge though, so I'm here to try to fill some of those in and help others with the things I do know.

Engineering, science, and art are my passions, so design engineering makes me very happy. My favorite thing is to just come up with inventive solutions to design problems--taking a list of constraints and creating a solution to satisfy them. I'm always multitasking on various personal projects when I'm not busy with clients. I have two FDM printers and a home workshop, so I keep myself occupied!

Some recent client work that I've enjoyed: a flange gap monitoring sensor for rocket launch infrastructure and nuclear power infrastructure, a structural-health monitoring sensor for the kevlar/vectran restraint layer in inflatable softgoods (e.g. inflatable ISS modules), and a rover for topological soil research.

Outside of work, I like to make art (paint, metalwork, woodwork, 3D-printed sculptures), read about technical topics, build robots, share my knowledge, and write. I have a few books out, but I won't share them here due to the advertising policy. I want to write more books once I have more field knowledge, but for now I'm thinking of starting a technical blog. Writing and coding are two of the only things where I can stay in the flowstate

Anyway, I hope to have some great discussions here! I love to talk, learn, and share my knowledge :)

Welcome aboard.

Hello everyone, I'm Cosmo. I'm an 18 years old student majoring in physics. I found this forum cause I was searching on Google if it's common for physics student to feel like they're in the wrong major in the first semester cause it feels like too much for me to learn the materials even the ones that are considered as "basic math" or "basic physics", I've initial fascination with the universe's mysteries and it disconnect with the reality of intense, foundational mathematics courses required...
