SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding a suitable investigatory topic in Physics for a Grade 12 (IB) student. The user is currently considering investigating the factors affecting the specific heat capacity of liquids with temperature changes but is uncertain about the feasibility of obtaining significant results. They express interest in topics related to electromagnetism and thermodynamics, while also being open to other areas. The user seeks immediate suggestions or resources for potential topics due to time constraints.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of specific heat capacity and its significance in thermodynamics.
  • Familiarity with basic principles of electromagnetism.
  • Knowledge of experimental design and data analysis in Physics.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and interpret results in a scientific context.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the relationship between temperature and specific heat capacity in various liquids.
  • Explore the principles of electromagnetism and potential investigatory topics within that field.
  • Investigate the effects of external factors on heat capacity without phase changes.
  • Look into existing Physics investigatory projects for inspiration and methodology.
USEFUL FOR

Grade 12 IB Physics students, educators guiding students in investigatory projects, and anyone interested in conducting experiments in thermodynamics and electromagnetism.

Homework Statement

^Not quite relevant to follow the template, unfortunately.
I need to do an investigation in Physics (not just a research paper) and I need help finding a suitable topic
Some of the good ones that have been done so far mainly involved looking at the aerodynamics of aeroplanes and the like. My current topic is looking at the various factors which cause the specific heat capacity of liquids to change (although they shouldn't) with temperature. But I really don't know if I can get results that are significant enough to investigate, so I don't want to take that risk.

Any suggestions? I'd be interested in electromagnetism and thermodynamics, mostly, I suppose.
(But please, I'm not restricting myself to these, I'm willing to look at others!)

I'm looking for suggestions within the scope of Grade 12 (IB) Physics.

Unfortunately, I AM a bit short on time, so please, if you cannot think of any potential theses on the spot, could you please at least redirect me to somewhere else where I can get a topic?

Here's another idea

I can investigate if any factors can affect the heat capacity of matter without a change of state.
