The point is, I am asking.
The Private Direct Message system on physicsforums is limited in how many messages are saved. Do we have some way of storing them off the system, or downloading the whole set of our PM's DM's at any time? Would members who become too active in the PM DM activity be able to carry on their interactions better either in email, or any system of online chat? Any generalizes or specifics?

Of course part of the point is when DM count hits max. limit, we need to delete some in order to make and receive more.

edit: returned and adjusted for terminology myself

I haven't tried it, but it looks like there is an "Export" option available on a per-message basis. Click on the 3 horizontal dots in the upper right of the DM:

BTW, it's more accurate to refer to those conversations as Direct Messages, not Private Messages. After all, if the other person you are having the conversation with invites others into the conversation, it is no longer "Private".

(I've adjusted your thread title accordingly.)
