Oxidizing suspended sulfur to sulfate in solution

I would like to oxidize suspended elemental sulfur to sulfate in a solution. Any suggestions?

Try raising the pH to 11 and using hydrogen peroxide in excess. At that pH peroxide is very reactive so add it very carefully.
