Paint.Net Adjustment->Curves tool

Hi all, I am working on face detection in c# and aforge, I've tried using threshold and inversion with grey scale but that doesn't seem to work,I noticed that Paint.Net's Adjustment->Curves tool can isolate the facial features though so was wondering if there is another name for the tool as "curves" is a little ambiguous for Google. Does anyone know of an aforge/c# implementation of this tool? Any help appreciated.
